INVITATION

Dear Esteemed Sponsors and Delegates,

On behalf of the Chantilly Model United Nations club, we would like to cordially invite all of you to CHMUN XVII. This year will feature 13 committees, each chaired by returning Chantilly MUN Alumni or highly experienced club members to elevate the quality of chairing and the delegates’ experiences as they debate critical issues facing the international community.

For the past seventeen years, CHMUN has been one of the largest and most successful conferences in the region, and this year’s conference will be no less. Our goal at this iteration of CHMUN, as always, is to introduce delegates to the practice of diplomacy through Model United Nations, while ensuring that delegates have fun along the way. The General Assemblies offered at CHMUN XVII will challenge delegates to develop new alliances in pursuit of a common goal and to resolve pressing global issues. Our Specialized Agencies range in topics from history to technology and aim to expand debate across the past, present, and future. CHMUN XVII Crisis Committees will encourage delegates to create thorough and creative solutions in short periods of time in response to crisis updates that force delegates to think outside of the box. Most importantly, however, we hope that beyond the competitive nature of committees, delegates will take this opportunity to challenge common beliefs and reach beyond their comfort zone, placing diplomacy and inclusivity at the forefront.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at chmunsg@gmail.com, or reach out to our Sponsors, Mr. Peter Bouwma (djashley@fcps.edu) and Ms. Danielle Simpson (dsimpson1@fcps.edu).

On behalf of the CHMUN Staff and Secretariat, we look forward to seeing you in January!

Best Wishes,

Yukta Ramanan | Secretary-General

Nayana Celine Xavier | Under-Secretary-General
